Our Story

(I'll give the back story on my next post...MILO'S benefit)

This Valentines Day will be the best I've ever had. My love continues to grow for my sweet James and our little ones. It will also be exactly one month post-"call" for transplant and Luluy girl is doing SO well. We will also be able to pick up the Tribune and read LuLu's Story!! Well, it's not just LuLu's story anymore. It is now LuLu & Ashley's story. It is such a rare, rare thing for us to have found eachother and to have shared in this incredible journey of organ donation together. Full circle.

Burden after burden have been lifted from James and I. We are grateful for the trials we've had the last few years but are ever so thankful for relief. We ARE changed, better people because of our trials. I hated being in the middle of them-hated, hated, hated but am glad I was able to experience, learn and grow from them. My dad has always said "learn the lessons Liz" and I believe I have.

Whatever YOU are going through, big or small. Learn from it. Don't let it be in vain. How awful it would be for me to look back on LuLu's illness and other goings-on and have let it get the best of me, well I should say US cause James has been refined as well.

Where's James with the 'stache & fro? Not like he needs more hair or anything.

Happy that things continue to be on the up & up Liz. Thanks so much for all your help & support over the past few weeks. So glad to have a little bit of you in my life.

xo!

Liz,
It's been years and years since I've seen you, but I've been following your blog now for a few months and am in awe at your family. What a beautiful, strong, brave girl your Lulu is. I have a daughter that is a similar age and I ache in my heart over what you have been going through. But most of all, I look up to you and James, Jonah and Lulu for the way you have handled this trial. What an example you all are. I keep your family in my prayers every night. I just read the article in the Trib and sobbed. What a beautiful story and Ashley is truly an angel. Thanks for sharing your story and I have made sure that my license says that I am a donor. :)

Love, Jessie Sager Nielson

Liz,

I've been catching up on your blog since we ran into each other at PBK. What a beautiful family and story you all have!

I just wanted to let you know that I just saw the SL Trib article on a link from msnbc.com! It's already posted on-line for viewing. It's a beautiful story about Ashley, Camie and your family.

Thanks for keeping us all up to date with your miracles.

What a great Valentines Day it will be for you guys! I can only imagine how wonderful it must feel to have your little family together now. I just love how you appreciate the little things that I sometimes get annoyed with my boys about. Maybe I need to start looking at things in a different way. Thanks for the inspiration! Love you!

P.S. I posted the Trib link to my FB page and reminded people to talk to their families about their donor wishes. Hope you don't mind!

Luckily some of us got to change through "your" trials and dont have to go through it ourselves. I have been so grateful for watching you and your family via this blog. I am a better mom now (i hope).
LuLu and her angel Ashley will forever be in so many peoples hearts.
Happy Valentines Day Healthy LuLu!!!

I read the link because I was excited to see the article--- but then today... nothing like the front page and then another two page spread! Loved it. Telling all sorts of people to read it. I am guessing you haven't even seen a small portion of the real influence you guys are having on all of us.

You're all amazing! My whole family thinks so-- love and prayers from all of us!
