They came to get us. It was like a dream...or nightmare, can't decide. The walk from our 3rd floor room to the OR on the second floor was the longest walk I've ever had. My heart was heavy, burning and tight. Tears uncontrolled. Jonah kept asking why I was crying and I told them they were happy tears. (a hard concept for a 3 year old) Some tears were happy for our LuLu the others were sad-for the donor, a life cut short and a family suffering beyond my own comprehension. She was as calm in my arms as I have ever seen her. I KNOW I wasn't the only one carrying her. The sweet spirit who gave her life close by.
It is 2:19 and we are waiting for our first update. The photographer from the Trib already came out after taking many pictures of LuLu's operation. I got to see a picture of her liver that has been giving her hell.
We are blessed, we feel so loved, so lucky that we live in a time of medical miracles such as this. Be strong my LuLu. We are patiently waiting for you and expect nothing less than perfection.

What a beautiful and heartbreaking moment to share! Tessa had minor surgery up there and seeing the look on your face brought back those mixed emotions for me. I cannot comprehend what you must be feeling. We are all rooting for that little LuLu! Our prayers continue...
I just LOVE that LuLu is on the operating table with a flower in her hair. True LuLu style! Kisses, Lizzie. Thanks for the pictures. It's so hard not being up there right now. I love you sissy.
