This is Aunt Julia checking in...

We anticipate LuLu's surgery will begin within the next two hours. LuLu's donor is still on life support while they assign one more organ to a different recipient. All organs must be harvested at the same time. It appears that LuLu's surgery will go well into the night and wrap up in the wee hours. Typically, a liver transplant lasts 8-12 hours. Dr. Book described the process as a symphony...there is a whole lot of orchestrating to make things go just right.

We won't have much to do in the OR waiting room (besides um, "waiting") so you can expect updates on this blog as we receive them from the OR. Her anesthisielogist just came by to say hello, and we went on a tour of the OR area, the recovery area, etc.

Not too much to report. Lizzie is rocking LuLu in the rocker right now, so for the moment, there is peace.

xoxoxo

thank you! thank you for the updates! i will be stalking ALL DAY! 'lucky' for me my day is just beginning, so your morning will be my evening. i'll be able to follow right along. crazy to think by the end of the day all will be complete.

i pray there will be more moments of peace today... followed by years and years of loud laughter and silly games from our lil' lulu. ;)

Mackenzie and I said lots of prayers for Lulu at bed time tonight. They took Mackenzie in the middle of the night for her transplant (130am); tell Lizzie and James (you too Julia) to get lots of sleep if they can. It's important to be rested when she comes out of surgery because there will be a lot going on.

My name is Jenny and I live in Arizona. I am a friend of Lisa and Brock McKeown. Although I don't know your family personally, I feel as though I do because I have been following your blog and praying for sweet LuLu. I was so happy this morning to see that you got the call and LuLu would be getting her liver today! My husband is from Utah and he used to work at Primary Children's in Anesthesia. He is very familiar with the liver transplant procedure. We are thinking about you guys and we will be praying for your beautiful family!!

Oh goodness Liz...I just heard from reading Annie's blog. I'm a little teary, but I'm sure the tears will soon fade as London recovers and is back at home. We are praying for you and for the other family. Oh, it breaks my heart of what they are going through, but what a miracle you now have. I hope things go well tonight. Sweet dreams little Lulu...
